The SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic is impacting the daily lives of everyone around the world. We are isolated within our communities, we are exceeding the capacity of our health systems, and we are struggling to keep pace with the rapidness of the outbreak. Together, we can innovate to make a difference. Not all heroes wear capes, some have it with their minds. So, this is your chance to become a hero for the world. All you need to do is participate in an online project contest which will give insights on the idea of prevention from COVID-19 and help to flatten the curve.

1. Project contest: The contestant will submit their project description during their registration. Before the deadline, the contestants have to submit their video presentation of their project. If it is needed, any supplementary documents can be provided by the contestants

Workshop on Writing and Publishing a Scientific Research Paper

Department of CSE, East West University, IEEE East West University Student Branch and IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter jointly organized a seminar on ‘Writing and Publishing a Scientific Research Paper’ on 28th March 2018. Nearly 100 students from different departments (especially, from CSE and EEE) attended this seminar.
The number of IEEE and non-IEEE member in the workshop was 40 and 55 respectively and participation of female in the workshop was above 40%. Key speaker of this seminar was Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka and Vice Chair, IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter. Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Ahad, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Dhaka was also a resource person in this seminar. Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Chairperson of CSE Department and other faculty members of CSE Department were also present on the occasion.

Basic Java Workshop

Workshop on Basic Java Programming

This event was the very first event of IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter DU. The chair of IEEE CS SB DU, Fariha Hossain Noboni and the committee members altogether arranged the event.
This workshop was arranged on March 24, 2018 in Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka.
Java is one of the most popular and mostly used programming languages used to create Web applications and platforms. That’s why learning Java is so important for the students who are interested in object oriented programming. But, not all of them have java courses in their academic institute. So, considering all these, we thought that it would be helpful for the students and interested people if a workshop is arranged on Java.
This Basic Java Workshop was just the first step of the plan.
The workshop was instructed by Bazlur Rahman Rokon, who is a Senior Software Developer at Vantage Labs, Dhaka. He is also the founder/leader at Java User Group, Bangladesh and former Guest Faculty at Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka.
Our respected teachers from CSE, EEE, IIT and RME Departments from University of Dhaka were present in the closing ceremony and shared their valuable commets and advises to the participants. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque sir, Md. Saeed Siddik sir, Md. Atiqur Rahman Ahad sir, Dr. Lafifa Jamal ma’am, Sajeeb Saha sir and Ahsan Habib Tareq sir were present in the closing ceremony. The director of IIT, DU, Dr. Md. Shariful Islam was also present in the closing ceremony.
25 participants from different universities, such as University of Dhaka, RUET, IUBAt, MIST, BUP, PSTU and ULAB attended the workshop and they were provided certificates after the daylong workshop.

Advanced Java Workshop

This event was the third event arranged by IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter DU. The chair of IEEE CS SB DU, Fariha Hossain Noboni and the committee members altogether arranged the event.
This workshop was arranged on April 7, 2018 in Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka.
Java is one of the most popular and mostly used programming languages used to createWeb applications and platforms. That’s why learning Java is so important for the students who are interested in object oriented programming. But, not all of them have java courses in their academic institute. So, considering all these, we thought that it would be helpful for the students and interested people if a workshop is arranged on Java.
This Advanced Java Workshop was actually the second phase of the Basic Java Workshop.
Same as the previous Basic Java Workshop, this workshop was too instructed by Bazlur Rahman Rokon, who is a Senior Software Developer at Vantage Labs, Dhaka. He is also the founder/leader at Java User Group, Bangladesh and former Guest Faculty at Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka.
Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque sir and Md. Atiqur Rahman Ahad sir were present in the closing ceremony and handed the token of honor to the instructor, Bazlur Rahman sir.
35 participants from different universities, such as University of Dhaka, RUET, IUBAT, MIST, BUP, PSTU and ULAB attended the workshop and they were sent e-certificates after the daylong workshop.
