Guneet Sethi, Chair

Guneet Sethi is a Reliability Engineering Manager at Amazon Lab126. He heads the product reliability of Kindle electrophoretic display devices at Amazon. He has 7+ years of experience in reliability engineering. Previously he was reliability-engineering lead at Qualcomm working on MEMS displays. He also worked at Max Planck Institute in Germany in reliability simulations area. Dr. Sethi received his BS degree in Materials Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India and MS and PhD degrees in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Penn State University in Pennsylvania. His doctoral work was on high-k laminates capacitor dielectrics for low frequency applications. His technical interests are in display reliability, materials reliability, thin films fabrication and characterization, MEMS, design for reliability, reliability testing and analysis, failure analysis and dielectrics. Dr. Sethi has written more than 30 publications including a book on “Thin Films for High Energy Density Capacitors”. He has 4 patents and many trade secrets to his credit. He is currently the chair of IEEE Santa Clara valley Reliability Chapter and also assistant editor of Journal of Scientific Review. He is an active contributor to the scientific community by serving as a peer reviewer for materials journals and has served as session chairs for SAE conferences. He is a nominated member of Sigma Xi society. He has won many awards for his publications and talks including an Indian National award from Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) for his work on “Experimental and Theoretical Study of Microwave and Conventional Sintered Bronze”.

Thomas Zwingman is currently a Reliability Engineering manager at Amazon. Previously, he worked at Tesla on their Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Electrical Hardware, and Infotainment systems. He has more than 20 years of experience in Reliability Engineering working at Apple, Space Systems Loral, National Semiconductor/Texas Instruments, and Intel. Thomas received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from UCLA and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

Bernhard Hiller is leading the Advanced Reliability Engineering team at Western Digital Corporation with the objective to continuously improve reliability methods and models for hard drives, SSD and archive systems. A key focus is the application of parametrics and data analytics for better reliability decision making. Throughout his career, he has been engaged in developing reliability-enhancing technologies and methods – in hard drives (Western Digital, Maxtor, and IBM) and in medical technology (Siemens). Bernhard Hiller received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford and B.S./M.S. degrees in ME from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He holds seventeen U.S. patents and has published twenty journal papers.
