Hackathon Hack-a-signal summary

On November 16-17, 2024, the University of Economics and Computer Science in Krakow hosted the Hack-a-Signal hackathon, organized by the IEEE Poland Chapter of the Signal Processing Society. The event attracted 47 participants, who formed 13 teams from 7 universities across Poland. The breakdown of participating teams by university is as follows:

  • 3 teams from Wrocław University of Science and Technology
  • 2 teams from Warsaw University of Technology
  • 2 teams from Gdańsk University of Technology
  • 2 teams from Cracow University of Technology
  • 2 teams from AGH University of Science and Technology
  • 1 team from Poznań University of Technology
  • 1 team from Lublin University of Technology

In total, the competition included 9 teams of four members, 3 teams of three members, and 1 team of two members.

Competition and Results

After 24 hours of intensive work, teams presented their projects during five-minute pitches, which were evaluated by the judging panel. After thorough deliberation, the winners were announced as follows:

1st Place:

Team: DECYBEL (Poznań University of Technology)

Project Title: „Analysis of Head Movements for Enabling Computer Operation for People with Disabilities”

2nd Place:

Team: Undefined behaviour (Cracow University of Technology)

Members: Bartosz Słowik, Krzysztof Radawiec

Project Title: „Color Sorter”

3rd Place:

Team: Digital Sigma Processing (Warsaw University of Technology)

Members: Maciej Dąbkowski, Wiktor Komorowski, Bartosz Iwaniuk, Maciej Rogaliński

Project Title: „Screen Visual Capability Extender”

Honorable Mention:

Team: NaMi (Nanoelectronics and Microsystems Scientific Club, Wrocław University of Science and Technology)

Members: Jakub Klimkowski, Maurycy Wesołowski, Kacper Szafrański, Paweł Wojeński

Project Title: „Intelligent Assistance System for Blind or Visually Impaired Individuals”
