Committees

Andressa
Conference Chair

Andressa Lodi de Brito is graduated in Bachelor in Science and Technology (2011) and
Energy Engineering (2014) at UFABC. She is also Master in Energy and is currently attending the
second year of Doctor’s in Energy, at the same university. Andressa has worked at Braskem in
reability engineering for 1 year (2013).

Andressa has been an IEEE member and volunteer since 2010. At IEEE Power and Energy Society UFABC
Student Chapter, she was the secretary in 2014, and became the Chapter Chair in 2015. In 2016, Andressa was the
Chair of IEEE UFABC Student Branch. She is currently the secretary of PES Professional Chapter of South Brazil Section since
2015, and she is the vice-chair of IEEE Young Professionals of South Brazil Section. Next year, Andressa will become the
Chair of PES Chapter of South Brazil Section. In 2016, Andressa was a member of the Organizing
Committee of the National Meeting of Student Branches and Young Professionals at her university.

Thiago Alencar
Technical Program Chair

Thiago Ribeiro de Alencar is from Santos, Brazil. He attended UFABC (Federal University of ABC) in Sao Paulo, where he graduated Ph.D. in energy (2017), M.Sc. degree in energy (2012), B.S. degree in management engineering (2017), B.S. degree in aerospace engineering (2011) and B.S. degree in science and technology (2009). His main research interests include optimization of hydropower plant operation and water transfer between rivers with genetic algorithm and ant colony system.

Currently, he is the PES Day chair 2018, PES YP (Young Professional) membership development coordinator (Regions 1-10) and IEEE Brazil Council membership development officer.

He received the IEEE MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award 2017 and IEEE Theodore W. Hissey Award 2015. He was chairman of the PES Section chapter for 2 years (01/2010 - 12/2011) at IEEE South Brazil Section. He was chairman of the PES student chapter at Monash University, Australia (2014). Also, he was the R9 PES YP representative (2014-2017). He founded two PES student chapters in Brazil and Australia. In 2016 and 2017, he helped increase the number of the PES student chapter from 3 to 22 in IEEE Brazil Council. He founded the IEEE PES NwB (Networking without Borders) project in 2014 with the first partnership with the PES student chapter from Region 9 (Brazil) and Region 10 (Australia). In 2016, he had led and founded the IEEE PES RES (Renewable Energy in Schools) project. The PES RES provided renewable energy kits to 49 PES student chapters across the world in 2016 and 2017.

Waldir
Communication and Publicity Chair

Waldir Ventura Filho is Technologist in Data Processing at FATEC-RL (2009) and Bachelor in
Science and Technology at UFABC (2017). He is currently attending the last year of Bachelor in Engineering
Management and Master's in Engineering and Innovation Management. As a professional, Waldir
worked at marketing area for more than 2 years, was also student ambassador and intern in IT infrastructure.

Has been IEEE member and volunteer for 6 years holding leadership positions. At IEEE Power and Energy
Society at UFABC Student Chapter work as volunteer since 2014. Was Chair of IEEE UFABC
Student Branch in 2013-2014 and is the current Chair and founder of IEEE Computer Society Student
Chapter and IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society Student Chapter. Also is the current Chair of IEEE
Young Professionals South Brazil Section. In 2016, Waldir was a member of the the Organizing Committee
of The National Meeting of Student Branches and Young Professionals at his university.


Jaqueline
Treasury Chair

Jaqueline Cardoso is Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from the Federal University of ABC - Brazil (2017) and founder of 
JJ Engenharia Eletrica. Jaqueline is an IEEE volunteer since 2009. She has served several volunteer activities and
leadership positions in different organizational units including Student Branch (UFABC - BRAZIL), South
Section Brazil, Young Professionals and PES Society.

Alessio
Co-Chair

Alessio Borelli graduated in industrial engineering and MSc in energy. He was manager of CESP
(Energy Company of Sao Paulo) for 23 years (1973-1994). Alessio has been a IEEE member since 1988.
He has been working as a IEEE volunteer at different positions for the past 29 years. He was 
IEEE R9 Council Manager (2012-2016), IEEE R9 Industry Relations Coordinator (2014-2015),
IEEE Brazil Council Chairperson (2012-2015), IEEE Brazil Council Vice President (2010-2011),
IEEE Section Chair of Southern Brazil (2007-2010), IEEE South of Brazil Section Vice President (2005-2006),
Treasurer of the IEEE Section of Southern Brazil (1992-1993) and secretary of the IEEE Southern
Brazil (1991).

Alessio organized different IEEE and PES congresses in Brazil. These are the main events organized by Alessio:

- 2004 IEEE PES T&D LA (Sao Paulo)
- 2010 IEEE PES T&D LA (Sao Paulo)

Danijel
Financial Chair

Danijel Topić is a member of PES Chapter in IEEE Croatia Section and he is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology in Osijek, Croatia. He serves as a IEEE PES Student Chapters coordinator for all regions. 

He had published more than 30 articles in scientific journals and international conferences. Currently he is project coordinator of the projects: Renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in a function of rural development (www.rures.eu) financed by Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020 and Optimization of off-grid photovoltaic systems regarding the value of expected energy not servedfinanced by FERIT. Danijel was expert on the following international projects: IPA UNIREG IMPULSE (Regional Universities as Generators of a Transnational knowledge), REGPHOSYS (Photovoltaic Systems as Actuators of Regional Development)
