Standards Development Committee (SDC)
I&CPS is responsible for many IEEE standards. The largest effort recently has been converting the “Color Books” to the IEEE 3000 Standards Collection™, however there are other standards for which the the department is responsible. We are always looking for volunteers to join with us in this effort. The easiest way to get involved is to attend our annual conference in the spring or the IAS Annual Conference in the fall. For the electrical engineer in an industrial or a commercial application environment, the IEEE 3000 Standards Collection™ for Industrial & Commercial Power Systems, formerly the Color Books, are presently the most comprehensive collection of recommended practices available. The IEEE Color Books are developed and revised by the technical committees of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Industrial and Commercial Power Systems (I&CPS) Department. This technical annual meeting is one of the main meetings where the I&CPS Department reviews, updates, augments and publishes the Color Book Set as required. Presently, the format of the set is reviewed in order to ensure compatibility with the needs of practicing engineers in the Internet and electronic publishing era.
