I have more than 18 years of industry and academic experience in the electrical power and energy field. I specialize in the planning and operation of electricity distribution networks, focusing on grid integration of renewable energy, electric vehicles, energy storage systems and demand response. Currently, I am associate professor of Electrical power and energy systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering, the University of Jordan. Additionally, I am serving as a consultant for the University of Jordan’s 16 MW solar PV project. My consultancy contributions also include the adoption of Smart Metering and Time of Use Tariff in the Jordanian electricity sector and the transition towards electric mobility in Jordan. I led an industry-academia research project that aimed to assess the role of storage and smart grid technologies to integrate solar PV across power grids (funded by the UK Royal Academy of Engineering). Prior to joining the University of Jordan, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in network integration of PV and storage at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Manchester, UK. Between 2005 and 2011, I worked with the Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO), Jordan as a consultant and head of power system studies.
