Call for Branch Circuit and Feeder Data | Teleconference Nov 10th, 2:00 – 3:00 PM EST

NFPA fire protection research foundation logo

The collaborators working on the NFPA Fire Protection Research Foundation Project — Evaluation of Electrical Feeder and Branch Circuit Loading — would like to know how many school districts, colleges, universities and academic medical centers have measured data from electronic metering of substation feeder breakers, downstream power distribution panels, and energy monitoring and control systems.   An estimation of the availability of this data will be an important consideration in the Phase I report scheduled to be delivered by the end of this year.

Background about why this data is necessary — and how it would contribute to an estimate of the cost of a prospective Phase II of this project — is available in a recent teleconference linked below. Please contact Tammy Gammon (tgammonphd@gmail.com), Casey Grant (cgrant@nfpa), Bob Arno (rarno01@harris.com), Jim Harvey (jrharvey@ieee.org) or Mike Anthony (maanthony@ieee.org) if your organization is willing to contribute data of this nature should the need for a Phase II data gathering project receive confirmation.  Manufacturers, contractors, energy managers, inspectors and others are also welcomed.   Linked below is a schematic prepared by Tammy that is a first cut at the technical specifics of getting the measurements right:

This query will be repeated on this site, and others, until the end of 2016.

Tammy will host a dedicated teleconference for this discussion on November 10th, 2:00 – 3:00 PM EDT.   Anyone is welcomed to join this call with the login information below:
