Introduction to Microgrids

Microgrids are increasing deployed to improve reliability as well as reduce costs and emissions.  This tutorial will present the design basics of microgrids including choice of distributed generation, network configuration, operation and some of the financial benefits.  Among the design issues covered will be generation characteristics, controls, grounding, protection, utility interface, and load shed.  The principles will be illustrated with several examples.
