NFPA | Fire Protection Research Foundation Priorities for Electrical Disciplines

NFPA fire protection research foundation logo

The NFPA Fire Protection Research Foundation has identified several priorities in the current year funding cycle that conform to its strategic plan:

FPRF Research Priorities 2014-2019

The Electrical Advisory Board has been asked to rank several projects according to technical relevance, problem magnitude, sense of urgency, likelihood of success and its relationship to the strategic agenda.   A recommended ranking of these priorities appears in the tabulation below.  Note that we have given highest priority to ground fault safety but following that we recommend that interoperability be given second-highest priority.   As standards developers, consortia, fora and open source foundations compete for ownership of #SmartCampus concepts electrical professionals will need to have some technical foundation for making choices among the competing #SmartCampus platforms that will emerge from the competition among suppliers.

NFPA Research Fund (2016) – Electrical Recommendations by Mike Anthony University of Michigan – 5 is highest priority

This tabulation will be on the agenda of our February 9th teleconferences
