A review of draft proposals for the next revision of NFPA 99 will be undertaken at the June 2nd teleconference of the IEEE Education & Healthcare Facilities Committee.

Among the technical specifics to be discussed are the following:

1. Occupancy and use risk categories (wet locations, operating suites, etc.)
2. Branch circuit wiring and demand calculations
3. Correlations with ICC and ASHRAE consensus documents
4. Overcurrent coordination
5. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requirements
6. Risk-informed performance allowances versus easily enforced prescriptive requirements
7. ICT support for Telemedicine and e-Medicine enterprises

Public input to NFPA 99 is due on July 6th but the public release of the results of the NEC technical committee deliberations will also be released on July 6th; thereby making it difficult to correlate concept development between the two committees.  We will do our best.
