Last Friday, we had the first meeting for OPS and we learned about Microcontrollers. Thank you Nathan and Josh for helping arrange this project. We are all looking forward to see what else is in store for this project later this semester.

For this lab we created a LED flicker effect whose speed was determined by a potentiometer.

Last Friday we had a breadboarding workshop, our first workshop. Several students showed up. Thanks to our hosts Devin and Yolanda for hosting this event. We are looking to hold another one again. See you there!

Saturday Morning on the 6th of November was Chico Preview Day. We represented both the IEEE Student Branch, the IEEE Honors Society (HKN), and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Micromouse set up a demonstration and several prospective students came to our table and inquired about the department and what we do. It was a great day to show people what we do as a club and department and we are looking forward to meeting the students of the incoming school year.

On Monday Evening (November 1) Tristen discussed his experiences completing college and acquiring a job. He discussed how from graduating as a Chico State Alumni with a degree in Electrical Engineering became employed. Currently, he works at DropCopter, developing systems for their products.

With about 20 people who have showed up those being of majors in the Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Department it was a successful event. Together with guidance from the president and vice president the attendees soldered a flash light together. Nothing like practical experience to apply the knowledge learned in class.

With Bob Hudelson we learned what AJA Video Systems is as a company and what they do in technology. They work mostly in media and entertainment, significantly in live performances, Furthermore, they may be looking to have us over for a company tour. Hopefully things go well and by next semester we would be able to tour.

On the first of this month (October) Matthew Hardenburg shared his knowledge about Techtronics and his company. He discussed about his experiences in searching for a job. Here he was able to convey how one should approach the future starting out in industry.

Hosted by HKN. Tuesday evening Design Group worked with students to acquaint them with Ignition, a SCADA software used for machines in industry. This software allows for various machines to be managed through other devices on and off site. Many people were able to attend and the workshop was a success.

As a representative for Helix Electric, Brinley Owen came over to discuss about an overview of his experience working on projects with Helix Electric such as those in commercial, transportation, and educational systems. Additionally he discussed about opportunities in working as an Intern or Co-Op for Helix Electric as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or in Estimating.
