Abstract:
This talk addresses a mathematical modeling technique traditionally referred to as agent based modeling but for purposes here, referred to as Zombie Based Modeling (ZBM). Four scenarios are considered, an institutional level model with Zombies wreaking havoc in a hospital emergency department, an urban level Zombie model, and some preliminary modeling using a relatively new computing paradigm suitable for very large scale modeling, as well as modeling within a university campus. The latter two simulations use a graphical processing unit (GPU) referred to here as Zombie Processing Unit (ZPU). The work complements other applications of traditional mathematical models of disease spread, specifically influenza-like illness (ILI), modified here to model a Zombie-like illness (ZLI).
