The venue will be the Building 2 of the Sardinian Scientific and Technological Park (Polaris) in Pula (CA), Italy.
The result of the joint commitment of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the European Union, the Sardinian Scientific and Technological Park is a system of advanced infrastructures and services for innovation and for the development and industrialization of research.
The Sardinian Scientific and Technological Park is embedded into an astonishing natural park of 160 hectares, quite close to the sea, about 40 km away from Cagliari.
Sardinia is a “magic” island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is renowed for its beautiful beaches and the wild inland, with several natural parks and traces of the ancient nuragic civilization. Cagliari is the largest city of Sardinia and also its capital. It’s a nice, safe and seaside city combining recreation opportunities to the possibility to access to easy connections with other beautiful places in the island. In order to have the opportunity to visit Sardinia in the summertime, which is very nice for swimming, you could consider to plan your travel so to have at least the two week-ends for exploring this wonderful place. The school organizer with the local PhD students will be happy to organize visits to some beautiful beaches and ancient cultural heritages (costs are not covered by the registration).
Accommodation
Accommodation expenses should be covered by the attendees. Since June is high-season in Sardinia, obtaining cheap accomodation could be a problem.
For this reason, we pre-reserved the whole University Guests House in Cagliari, which offers nice rooms in Downtown Cagliari at very low rates for our attendees. You can find the official rates and all the information from the Guesthouse website. The pre-reservation of the rooms is valid until May 17. After that time, there will be no guarantee to find a room. All the rooms are equipped with Air Conditioning, Private bathroom, Flat-screen TV and Free WiFi.
The prices for students and post-docs (including stay tax, 3€ per person per day) are:
Student and post-doc | Researchers | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
Double room | Single Room | Double room | Single Room | |
Price per person per day | 28 Euros | 33 Euros | 38 Euros | 43 Euros |
Price per person for one week (7 days) | 161 Euros | 186 Euros | 196 Euros | 221 Euros |
Please consider that the table above could not be completely visible on mobile phones. The attendees can also decide to book on their own in any other place. For suggestions on other solution with discounted rates for the University of Cagliari (several hotels) please contact the school organizer.
However, please consider that the public transportation could be cumbersome in that period (high-season) and that transfers to/from the school will be arranged only from/to the Guesthouse and Downtown Cagliari.
Travelling to Sardinia
Travelling expenses should be covered by the attendees. The simplest solution is to fly to Cagliari Elmas International Airport, which is conveniently placed close to Cagliari and well connected to downtown Cagliari. For further details you can visit the Airport website
