Rules and Regulations

  • All materials required will be bought by the contestant including balloons for test runs.
  • The participants will have to make a set up with multiple stages. Each stage should initiate the next.
  • In the last stage, a balloon should burst.
  • Only the balloons for the final runs will be provided by IEEE RITB and only those balloons should be used while presenting to the judges
  • Teams can have 3 members.
  • A duration of 2/3 hours will be given to build the set up.
  • The teams are required to assemble their set up at the event from scratch.
  • Pre assembled parts are not allowed. If found using pre assembled materials the team will be disqualified
  • The teams will have 3 chances to show the working of the contraption.
  • If the balloon does not burst even after 3 tries the teams can choose to opt for extra tries but will be deducted 50/100 points.
  • The participants will have to accommodate their set up within the allotted space.
  • Use of easily available household stuffs will be encouraged and hence, will fetch more points.
  • Please Avoid use of dangerous objects to ensure your own safety and the safety of others.
  • Please make sure no damage is done to the college property. If any Damage found the team will be disqualified and will have to bear the expenses of the damage
  • Decision of IEEE RITB is final in all matters.

Judging Criteria

  • 50 ( l1/l2) + 50 (s1) +100 (s2) +200 (s3) +20 (n) +50 (e) + t + 500;
  • l1= length of contraption (total distance along the path from beginning to the balloon;; bigger the better)
  • l2=displacement between start and end points. (smaller the better)
  • Steps (s): ● s1=step1=> 50 points for step 1. ● s2=step2=>100 points for step 2. ● s3=step3=>300 points for step 3.
  • n=number of individual elements.
  • t=time in seconds
  • 500 points for bursting the balloon.(irrespective of the trial in which the balloon was burst. The trial in which the balloon was burst will be considered only if there is a tie.)
