The IEEE Women in Engineering of the IEEE Student Branch of the Department of Informatics of the University of Western Macedonia, Kastoria organizes a Coffee Talk on “Gender Equality in the time of Covid-19”, which will take place on Thursday, March 11 at 18:00 via Zoom platform.
Coffee Talks are casual discussions on topics related to Women in Engineering, for the participants to gain insights into the knowledge about them. The aim of this Coffee Talk is the exploration of how each of us perceives this period as well as the need to realize that the personal experiences and emotions that accompany each of us in this difficult period, are completely normal, regardless of how experienced by those around us.
Speakers are Ms. Vicky Mastora, Psychologist and executive of DOPSY.SY. of the University of Western Macedonia and Ms. Georgia (Iria) Saridaki, Graduate student of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens and Section Student Representative at IEEE Greece Section.
The Coffee Talk will start with the Presentation of the IEEE Women in Engineering from Chairwoman, Marianna Bosiaka.
Afterward Ms. Mastora will raise issues such as relationships and coexistence between people regardless of gender in the difficult period of COVID-19. It will also discuss how they affect a person’s psychology, as well as their relationships with others. In addition, stereotypes that exist in our society and how they affect relationships between individuals will be analysed. It will also be discussed how a negative situation can change and how improving it can benefit each of us.
Consequently, Ms. Saridaki will talk to us about how COVID-19 has affected the daily life of a young student, the personal experiences of herself and each of us in the times we live. She will also talk to us about her difficulties in the academic environment as well as her progress in the IEEE organization.
