WIE@SENSE IT 2020

The annual meeting of the IEEE Italy Section Women In Engineering Affinity Group (WIE Italy) will be held on November 20, 2020. Organized in collaboration with the IEEE Italy Sensors Chapter and IEEE Women in Sensors (WiSe), the event will include a morning session, which will host three presentations by three leading women in the field of sensors, and an afternoon session dedicated to the annual meeting of WIE Italy.

Due to the COVID-19 emergency, the conference will take place in virtual mode. Participation in the event is free of charge, upon registration on the site. Instructions for the participation in the virtual meeting will be provided after the registration.

The program of the day, available here, also includes the third edition of GENEVA 2020 (Gender Equality iN rEsearch and innoVAtion), which is an opportunity to share best practices related to the management of gender aspects in funded research projects. Previous editions (GENEVA 2018, GENEVA 2019) have had wide participation. Participate in GENEVA 2020 with your project!

As usual, the 2020 annual meeting of WIE Italy will focus on the WIE.steer2STEM.chart 2.0 created as an open document updated annually to collect objectives and actions to be taken in the short term to encourage and support women’s participation in STEM careers. We will share the activities and initiatives promoted during the past year in support of WIE.steer2STEM.chart 2.0 and we will update the chart together based on the objectives achieved and further proposals that will emerge from the discussion.

La riunione annuale dell’IEEE Women In Engineering Affinity Group della Sezione Italia (WIE Italy) si terrà il 20 novembre 2020. Organizzato in collaborazione con l’IEEE Italy Sensors Chapter e IEEE Women in Sensors (WiSe), l’evento prevede una sessione mattutina, che ospiterà tre presentazioni di donne di spicco nel settore della sensoristica, e una sessione pomeridiana dedicata alla riunione annuale di WIE Italy.

A causa della emergenza COVID-19, la conferenza si svolgerà in modalità virtuale.  La partecipazione all’evento è gratuita, previa registrazione al sito. Le modalità di connessione verranno inviate successivamente alla registrazione.

Il programma della giornata, disponibile qui, prevede anche la terza edizione di GENEVA 2020 (Gender Equality iN rEsearch and innoVAtion), che costituisce una occasione di condivisione delle best-practices relative alla gestione degli aspetti di genere nei progetti di ricerca finanziati. Le precedenti edizioni (GENEVA 2018, GENEVA 2019) hanno avuto ampia partecipazione. Partecipa a GENEVA 2020 con il tuo progetto!

Come di consueto, la riunione annuale 2020 del WIE Italy si concentrerà sulla carta degli impegni WIE.steer2STEM.chart 2.0, creata come documento aperto aggiornato annualmente per raccogliere obiettivi e azioni da intraprendere a breve termine per incentivare e sostenere la partecipazione delle donne alle carriere in ambito STEM. Condivideremo le attività e le iniziative promosse durante l’anno passato a supporto di WIE.steer2STEM.chart 2.0 e aggiorneremo insieme la carta sulla base degli obiettivi raggiunti e di ulteriori proposte che emergeranno dalla discussione.
