Vasilis F. Pavlidis currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds an MSc and PhD degree from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, obtained in 2003 and 2008, respectively, all in Electrical and Computer Engineering. From 2008 to 2012, he was a post-doc at the Integrated Systems Laboratory of EPFL, Switzerland directed by Professor Giovanni De Micheli. In 2012, he joined the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester as an Assistnat Professor where he was elevated to an Associate Professor in 2018.
Dr Pavlidis has 10+ years of research experience in the areas of on-chip interconnect modeling and design and emerging technologies, such as 3-D integration. Back in 2007, he was the prime designer of the Rochester cube, a three-layer 3-D prototype circuit that demonstrated operation at 1 GHz. He is the leading author of the book Three-Dimensional Integrated Circuit Design, (1st and 2nd Edition). In addition to circuit design, he has experience in modeling and EDA where he has contributed in the areas of thermal modeling where the most recent output is the software simulator, Manchester Thermal Analyzer. He has published 70+ journal and conference articles and has over 1,600 citations (source google scholar, 6/2020).
Dr Pavlidis has offered editorial service for several journals, including IEEE Transactions on VLSI, Microelectronics Journal, Integration the VLSI Journal, and Journal of Low Power Electronics and Applications (JLPEA). He also serves as a TPC member of circuits and EDA conferences, such as DATE, ISCAS, VLSI-SoC, GLSVLSI and others. He has delivered over 20 invited talks in academia, research centers, and industry including a 5-day course at the University of Beihang, China. Dr Pavlidis is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Chair of the IEEE Greece Circuits and Systems/Solid-State Circuits Joint Chapter (2020/21) and serves as the VP Publicity of the ExCom of the IEEE Council on EDA.
