Net Zero Energy Buildings

January 17, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm CST

$30 – $35

A net zero energy building (NZEB) produces enough renewable energy to meet its own annual energy consumption requirements, thereby reducing the use of non-renewable energy in the building sector. NZEBs use all cost-effective measures to reduce energy usage through energy efficiency and include renewable energy systems that produce enough energy to meet remaining energy needs. There are a number of long-term advantages of moving toward NZEBs, including lower environmental impacts, lower operating and maintenance costs, better resiliency to power outages and natural disasters, and improved energy security.

Presenter: Steve Eich, ESD

Steve Eich is the Electrical Technical Director at Environmental Systems Design, Inc. (ESD). He has 28 years of experience in design and analysis of engineering systems including but not limited to developing electrical design documents for new construction and renovation projects including hospitals, schools, laboratories, residential developments, hotels, exhibition/conference centers and computer data centers. His specialties include photovoltaic system design and renewable energy.
