Fundamentals of Overcurrent Protection on Electric Distribution Systems

This presentation will provide an overview of the devices used for overcurrent protection on electric utility distribution systems; including breakers, reclosers, sectionalizers, and fuses. It will also demonstrate how to coordinate these devices to limit the effects of short-circuit currents to the smallest area, and maintain reliability of service to customers.
