Idaho Power and other electrical utilities maintain independent communications infrastructure to support the needs of the electrical utility. This presentation will provide an overview of utility communications infrastructure with applications and methods applied to design, build and maintain a robust communications network. The discussion will include an overview of communications engineering functions including fiber-optic links, microwave radio paths, and multiplex technologies used for a wide variety of applications.
