Volunteer Opportunities
Baltimore Section
The Baltimore Section of the IEEE greatly appreciates the efforts of its volunteer members. The IEEE is a volunteer run organization and we are always looking for members to help us advance [popuppress id=”3147″] and organize local events for our members, students, and community.
Below is a list of opportunities that the Baltimore Section is looking to find volunteers for. If you are able to help in any of these areas, please contact the POC that is listed with the opportunity.
Thank you for considering volunteering your time with the IEEE Baltimore Section!
Below are Baltimore Section Volunteer Opportunities
National Electronics Museum Volunteer Opportunities
NEM needs Education Volunteers to lead tours and demos, and to lead workshops including soldering classes. Education Volunteers are most often needed on weekdays for school field trips, and occasionally on weekends. Orientation and training is provided, and all Education Volunteers must pass a background check. Anyone interested in becoming a NEM volunteer should contact Alice Donahue, Assistant Director at donahue.nem@gmail.com or complete the application on our website: http://www.nationalelectronicsmuseum.org/index.php/volunteer/
Annual Robot Challenge Volunteer Opportunities
The Robot Challenge is an annual event developed and sponsored by the Baltimore Section. We need about 70 volunteers, many of whom return every year, but we always need new people who would like to help our high school students better understand what engineering is all about.
Our greatest need is for judges, but we can also use assistance in our repair shop, in administration, as a photographer, videographer, or as a student mentor. Training is provided on the day of the event, except for mentors who should attend a training session prior to the event. Please contact Neville Jacobs at Nevilleed@aol.com or at (410) 653-4176.
Baltimore Section Executive Committee Officer Candidates
Are you interested in getting involved with helping to lead the IEEE Baltimore Section? Every year the section is looking for members to fill the roles of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice Chair, and Chair. If you are available to support the Section in one of these positions, or know of someone who might be interested, please contact Dave Kisak, dkisak@ieee.org. Also, visit one of Baltimore Section’s ExCom meetings at the National Electronics Museum. Our usual meeting time is the second Monday of the month except May, July and August. For the exact dates see our ExCom calendar.
