Prof. Petri Pellikka visited RS Group in Wuhan University
On March 21st, 2019, Prof. Petri Pellikka was invited to give a talk about “Remote sensing of the impact of land cover change to carbon storage and water resources in Africa Taita Taveta, Kenya” for chapter members in Wuhan University. More than 40 students and teachers participated in this activity.
Prof. Petri Pellikka works in the earth change monitoring laboratory of the department of geography and earth sciences, University of Helsinki, Finland. He is also the director of the Teta research station, University of Helsinki. His research focuses on land cover change detection using remote sensing and other types of geospatial data. Prof. Petri Pellikka is currently studying the impact of agricultural expansion and conservation on land cover and land use change and its impact on water resources, biodiversity, climate and human activities in Africa, using multi-source data such as remote sensing. Prof. Petri Pellikka is also the editor of “Sensors”, “International Journal of Applied Geospatial Research”, “International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation”. He is one of the most influential scholars in the field of international environmental remote sensing.
