On September 21-22, the IEEE GRSS China Student Chapter Meeting (Autumn) 2024 was successfully held in Wuhan. The conference attracted representatives of IEEE GRSS student chapters and GRSS, including Professor Saibun Tiuatja, IEEE GRSS Executive Vice President, Professor Shi Jiancheng, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Li Jun, member of IEEE GRSS AdCom, Yan Wen from IEEE Beijing Representative Office, and representatives from Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Harbin, and other places. The conference reported and exchanged the current development status and future work plans of IEEE GRSS local chapters and student chapters, and carried out extensive discussions on the future development of IEEE GRSS in China.

First of all, Professor Saibun Tiuatja, Executive Vice President of IEEE GRSS, Professor Shi Jiancheng from the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Associate Professor Chen Yiping from Sun Yat-sen University made wonderful academic presentations and had in-depth exchanges with the students.

Then, Zhao Hang, representative of IEEE GRSS Student Branch of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Li Rui, representative of Fudan University Student Branch, Xue Yuwan, representative of Chengdu University of Electronic Science and Technology, Ma Zihao, representative of Harbin Institute of Technology and Guo Haonan, representative of Wuhan University Student Branch introduced the basic situation of each student branch. It includes an overview of the membership of the chapter, academic exchange activities, research competitions, related conferences, and paper presentations.

The participants made reports and exchanges on the development status and future work plans of the local student chapters of IEEE GRSS, and carried out extensive discussions on the future development of IEEE GRSS in China. IEEE GRSS China Student Branch exchange meeting successfully concluded, this activity for the IEEE GRSS student Branch in China to build a remote sensing discipline platform to carry out academic research and enhance academic exchange platform. In the future, IEEE GRSS student chapters will also hold annual conferences and academic exchange conferences regularly, laying a solid foundation for the association to exert academic influence and lead the country.
