Stacy Roopnarine
Stacy Roopnarine is a former Government Minister of State, and former elected Member of Parliament in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She is an Electrical Engineer by profession with over 5 years of telecommunications experience with Caribbean telecommunications giant Digicel. Ms. Roopnarine obtained a BSc. (Hons) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of the West Indies in 2005 and she has since been a member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE). She was also instrumental in setting up the first student branch of the IEEE at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine campus.
While serving in the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Roopnarine, over a five year period, made invaluable contributions in the Ministries of Sport, Works and Transport, Gender, Youth and Child Development. She contributed to legislative development and was a member of several key inter-ministerial committees. As a Member of Parliament, Ms. Roopnarine was responsible for the improvement in the lives of thousands of persons within the constituency of Oropouche West. She ensured that much needed infrastructural development was completed and access to social services was provided to persons in need.
Ms. Roopnarine is passionate about gender equity and has represented Trinidad and Tobago in numerous international women conferences. She also served as the Chairperson of the Women’s Arm of her political party, the United National Congress from 2012 to 2015. Presently Ms. Roopnarine is a Consultant and a Volunteer. She is also pursuing a Masters in Business Administration at the Heriot Watt University.
Ms. Roopnarine is an avid humanitarian and her guiding principle is that service to man is service to God.
