IEEE Sweden VT/COM/IT Promotion Activity, KTH, Kista

In April 21st, a IEEE Sweden VT/COM/IT promotion event will take place at KTH, Kista. Dr. Jens Zander will have a presentation with the title “When and how to share the frequency spectrum?”, you will also meet members of the board who can answer questions about the chapter and activities.

Title: When and how to share the frequency spectrum ?

Abstract: Flexible Spectrum Allocation and Secondary spectrum sharing have been proposed as techniques to remedy poor spectrum  utilization for over a decade, so far without any significant commercial success. In this talk we scrutinize some of the recent results regarding the incentives and prerequisites for successful spectrum sharing – from both technical and commercial perspectives. We will also discuss the intimate relationship between spectrum and infrastructures sharing, and the implications for 5G.

Speaker: Jens Zander, Scientific Director of Wireless@kth and Dean of the ICT School at KTH. Dr Zander is on the board of directors of the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) and a member of the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences. His current research interests include architectures, resource and flexible spectrum management regimes as well as economic models for future wireless infrastructures.

Date: April 21st, 2015.

Time: 16:00

Location: Isafjordsgatan 26/Kistagången 16, Kista. Electrum Building, 3rd Floor Elevator C (EIT ICT Labs).

Nobel Lectures in Sweden

Dear VT/COM/IT member!

Nobel Prize Laureate, Professor Michael Levitt is visiting Sweden in early June, on
a very tight and ambitious schedule. Members of IEEE are cordially invited to attend
M. Levitt’s seminars, either in Umeå, Stockholm, or in Göteborg.

Prof. Levitt, affiliated with Stanford University ‘s School of Medicine, USA, is a
former IEEE member. He shared the prize in Chemistry in 2013 with Martin Karplus and
Arieh Warshel. The prize motivation was for the development of multi-scale models
for complex chemical systems. Prof. Levitt is the architect of computer simulation
methods which in many cases replace test tubes and clinical trials for development
of pharmaceuticals. For more on his work, please click here:

There are now three alternative ways how to attend prof. Levitt ‘s seminars.

Alternative 1 – A small private seminar at KTH, Stockholm, on June 6 at 14.00
IEEE Sweden Section has managed to arrange this seminar in cooperation with KTH at
14.00 at KTH, Campus Valhallavägen, Brinellvägen 8.
Due to the limited number of seats, register now if you want to attend, by
responding ASAP to Rune Persson,
rune.persson@computer.org<mailto:rune.persson@computer.org>! We work on a first
come, first served” basis.

Alternative 2 – A lecture at Chalmers, Göteborg, on June 9 at 14.30
Chalmers in collaboration with Gothenburg University will host this seminar and
lecture on Monday 9 June. The venue is RunAn at Chalmers, Chalmersplatsen 1, 412 58
Göteborg.
The event starts at 1430 with coffee and mingle, and continues at 1500 with
introduction, followed by a one-hour lecture by Prof Levitt, concluded with a
discussion.
Chalmers and Gothenburg University have kindly invited IEEE Sweden members who are
interested in attending the lecture. Please use the link below for registration

Alternative 3 – A lecture at KBC (Kemiskt Biologiskt Centrum), Umeå, on June 5 at 10.00
Umeå University will host a lecture on Thursday 5 June – “”BIRTH & FUTURE OF
MULTI-SCALE MODELING OF MACROMOLECULES”. The venue is The Chemical Biological Centre
(KBC- Kemiskt Biologiskt Centrum), at the KBC large lecture hall KB3B1; Linnaeus väg
10, 901 87 Umeå.
The lecture is 10:00 to 10:50.
Umeå University has kindly invited IEEE Sweden members who are interested in
attending the lecture.
Due to the limited number of seats, register now if you want to attend, by
responding ASAP to Rune Persson,
rune.persson@computer.org<mailto:rune.persson@computer.org>! We work on a first
come, first served” basis.

Please observe: If you register for the event, please be sure to attend.
Since there are a limited number of seats available, we should avoid blocking seats
for other attendants.
