Webinar on “Thin film solar cell research and manufacturing”

On the 21st of August 2020, IEEE Student Branch Chittagong University arranged a webinar on “Thin film solar cell research and manufacturing

The climate emergency is upon us and we need to act now. Solars are often touted as a major part of the solution for climate change, which are not only readily available today, but the costs are decreasing compared to fossil fuel.

In this webinar, the effect of thin film on the solar panel construction was discussed broadly.
The webinar speaker Muktashif Anwar received his B.Sc in Applied Physics Electronics and Communication Engineering(Current EEE) from the University of Chittagong. Then he received his Master of Science from the University of Toledo in Electrical Engineering. Muktashif also holds a Master’s degree in Photovoltaics from the University of Toledo. In addition to being a Research Assistant at the University of Toledo, he was also a Research Assistant in the Wright Center for Photovoltaics Innovation and Commercialization. He has a deep interest in physical vapor deposition systems, semiconductor microfabrication processes, laser processing, and material characterization techniques. He is also skilled in several film deposition systems and data analysis tools. He is currently interning for a upcoming solar cell manufacturing company called Toledo Solar.

InThe focus of this webinar was to share insights about research and the manufacturing of thin film solar cells. The webinar speaker shared his experimental work in detail. He also discussed the research field of solar energy and its future.

A heartfelt thanks to Muktashif Anwar Dhrubo Research Assistant at the University of Toledo for taking this wonderful webinar.

Thanks to Dr. Kazi Tanvir Ahmmed Sir for moderating the webinar so wonderfully. Also, thanks go to Dr. Mohammad Abdul Alim Sir and Dr, Nowshad Amin Sir for attending the webinar. Thanks to all participants for attending this webinar.
