Abstract

Directional light extraction of plasmonic modes in a hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs) is demonstrated by direct coupling of resonance cones from Quantum Dots (QDs) underneath a HMM using a high index bulls-eye grating antenna. Theoretical and experimental details of hyperbolic metamaterials, plasmonic antennas and quantum dots are presented with a focus on drawing analogies between the optics and microwave research communities.

We are still accepting applicants for future seminar series. To become one of our student presenters please send an email our Student Liaison Officer, Souren Shamsinejad, at s.s@ualberta.ca  with your topic.
