Melissa Poggi

Biography:

Melissa is a Consulting Application Engineer with Schneider Electric. Prior to joining Schneider, she spent 13 years working in the consulting industry designing everything from large scale solar PV and wind farms, cogeneration plants, microgrids, various low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems, data centers, conducting complex power system studies and commissioning work. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. She holds PE licenses in the states of Maryland, New York, Virginia, California, New Jersey and Texas, and is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and LEED AP. Melissa currently works to support design engineers on a variety of engineering topics, including electrical layouts, code requirements, and electrical design questions.

Presentation Overview:

With the need for resilient, sustainable and efficient power, the new energy landscape is microgrids. Microgrids are rapidly growing in popularity and in some places, becoming mandatory. But what is a microgrid? Schneider Electric is quickly becoming one of the industry leaders in both knowledge and products geared towards creating functional microgrid solutions. This presentation will provide an overview for the whats and whys of microgrids, along with discussing many key factors that need to be considered while designing a microgrid.
