IEEE PES FORT WORTH MONTHLY MEETING -April 16th, 2024

Fort Worth IEEE PES members, we will have our next IEEE PES meeting on April 16th from 11:30am to 12:30pm. We have Andrew Bailey, Product Line Manager for FACTS and HVDC Products, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) speaking on FACTS & HVDC: Advanced Power Electronics Applications to High Voltage Transmission Systems.

Presentation Overview:

Andrew Bailey is the FACTS & HVDC product manager for Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. (MEPPI), having joined MEPPI in November of 2017.  He graduated with Highest Distinction with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 2013 and earned a Master of Engineering Degree in Power Systems from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2020. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina. At MEPPI Mr. Bailey has contributed to the design, execution, and operational support of numerous Static Var Compensator (SVC), Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM), and Fixed Series Capacitor (FSC) systems. Prior to joining MEPPI Mr. Bailey held engineering roles with ABB where he performed system analysis studies and commissioning activities for high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems, including project experience with both Line-Commutated Converter and Voltage-Sourced Converter HVDC technology.

He has been a member of IEEE Power and Energy Society and NGN member of Cigre. He contributes to various working groups within both IEEE and Cigre.
