SPEAKER

Keith Armstrong- Clean Air Instrument Transformers.

Summary:

The presentation is about the replacement of SF6 (Sulfur hexafluoride) gas used in some designs of HV Instrument Transformers with clean air. Sf6 is used throughout the electric utility industry as an insulating medium for some types of high voltage circuit breakers, high voltage instrument transformers, and other equipment. SF6 gas is one of the world’s most potent greenhouse gasses with a with a global warming potential of 22,800 times that of carbon dioxide.  Clean Air is an alternative insulating medium that is safe for the environment with zero global warming potential.
