The IEEE Benelux COM/VT Joint Chapter supported organizing the CompSys 2023 conference,
which took place at Kontakt der Kontinenten (Amersfoortsestraat 20, 3769 AS Soesterberg) on
27-29 June 2023.

CompSys is a Computer Science conference designed to highlight Dutch Computer Systems
and Networks research while fostering and strengthening national and international
collaboration. CompSys aims to provide a meeting space for network, computing, and computer
system research and industry ideas. Besides 30 paper presentations, CompSys 2023 hosted
four keynote talks from distinguished experts in academia and industry who delivered cutting-
edge insights into critical areas of computer systems and networks. These areas include 6G
networks and safety-critical real-time systems, among others. Moreover, CompSys 2023
organized a panel discussion on “Bridging the Gap – Industry Uptake of Advanced Research
from Academia.
” The panel explored several pressing topics, including the adoption of specific
academic outcomes in industrial systems and products and the reasons why, why not, and how
to adopt such outcomes. This panel featured a diverse range of experts, drawn from both
academia and industry, with extensive experience in computer systems and networks.

Two executive committee members of the IEEE Benelux COM/VT Joint Chapter were heavily
involved in CompSys 2023: Prof. Qing Wang (TU Delft) was the conference co-chair, and Prof.
Mitra Nasri
(TU Eindhoven) gave a keynote talk on “The right action at the right time: past,
present, and future trends in real-time systems design
.”
The IEEE Benelux COM/VT Joint Chapter sponsored the Best Long Paper Award and the Best
Short Paper Award.
