IEEE WV Section presents

Technical talk:

OFFSHORE WIND – An Emerging and Sustainable Industry

All of us are familiar with wind turbines: we see them on mountains, next to highways or adjacent to industrial complexes. However, have you heard of turbines in the middle of the ocean, where wind is constant, speeds are higher and there is no size restriction?

Offshore wind is an already developed industry in Europe that will reach the US East Coast as of next year. With the arrival of the Biden administration, the ambitions on clean energy productions have been exponentially increased, allowing the US to potentially become one of the biggest offshore wind hubs in the world by 2030.
