On April 17, 2023, Prof. Xiuping Jia was invited to give a presentation for IEEE GRSS Wuhan Chapter at China University of Geosciences, Wuhan. The title of her presentation is “From Author to Reviewer”. She covers the ins and outs of publishing from an Author to Reviewer perspective, which is helpful to all listeners. More than 50 IEEE GRSS Wuhan members at China University of Geoscience participated in this activity.

Dr Xiuping Jia received her bachelor’s from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China, in January 1982. Later she received a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from The University of New South Wales, Australia, in 1996 and 2005, respectively. Since 1988, She has been with the School of Engineering and Information Technology, The University of New South Wales at Canberra, Australia, where she is currently an Associate Professor.

She has been engaged in the research of photogrammetry and remote sensing, hyperspectral image processing for a long time. The projects she has been involved in and supervised range from image registration, image correction, feature mining and learning, to spectral-spatial based classification. She is the author or coauthor of a wide range of publications including journal papers, book chapters, and conference proceedings. She is the coauthor of the remote sensing textbook entitled Remote Sensing Digital Image Analysis, which has been cited 10667 times. She has contributed to numerous academic societies. Dr. Jia is an IEEE fellow and currently is the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Geosciences and Remote Sensing.
