Abstract:
Santa Isabel is a 101 MW project located on the south coast of Puerto Rico. The project consists of 44 2.3 MW Siemens turbines and commenced commercial operations in late 2012. 100% of its electricity generation including environmental attributes is sold to PREPA under a long term power purchase agreement. Santa Isabel is connected to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority transmission system and is Puerto Rico’s first commercial wind power project. The project is located on approximately 5,500 acres of land owned by the Puerto Rico Land Authority, which is actively farmed by private operations and subject to a long-term lease arrangement.

Los objetivos del seminario son: Presentar recomendaciones sobre reformas al proceso de permisos de PV en PR. Presentar recomendaciones de reformas a estándares de interconexión. Discutir alternativas y opciones de financiamiento, zonificación y planificación relacionadas a sistemas fotovoltaicos. Exponer y discutir la creación de un organismo profesional y ciudadano para impulsar estas reformas en PR.

La actividad está PENDIENTE de aprobación de cuatro (4) horas contacto de Educación Continuada del Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de PR.

Abstract:
Windmar Renewable Energy, Inc. (“Windmar”). Established in 2002, Windmar is the largest local renewable energy company with vast experience in both solar and wind energy. Windmar has installed more than 30 photovoltaic projects all over the island of Puerto Rico, including Culebra. Windmar has acquired extensive experience with the local government permitting process and has received several PPOA’s for wind and solar projects from the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (“PREPA”). Windmar’s solar projects range from small residential installation up to the Martino Solar Farm, which is the largest solar installation of Latin America up to this date. Martino is located in Ponce and has more than 3 MW already installed and Windmar plans to expand it by an additional 10 MW.
