On March 22, 2014, the Red River College IEEE Student Branch will be hosting an Arduino workshop.
for beginners and intermediate users. The workshop will cover the basics of using LEDs, LCD screens,
motors, and sensors. Ultimately, the participants will use their skills to control a cookie extruding
conveyor machine, bake some cookies, and enjoy some tasty treats.

Abstract:
JOE JUSTICE of Team WIKISPEED is being brought to Winnipeg this June 2013 to lead participants in the building of a car during the first workshop of its kind ever held in Canada: WINNISPEED. The 100+ mile-per-gallon prototype car that Team WIKISPEED created in just three months will be built from scratch on each of the two workshop days.
WIKISPEED has wowed participants in similar events around the world, most recently in Barcelona, Spain. This is a unique opportunity to work in an agile team with Joe Justice as Scrum Master and learn firsthand how Agile can transform your organization.
Sponsors will be offered preferred participation in one of the workshops and the closing banquet, as well as prominent acknowledgement on all promotional materials and in videos documenting the event.
Workshop participants will work directly with Joe Justice to build a car in a single day. During the workshops Joe Justice will explain the use of Extreme Manufacturing in Team WIKISPEED. Then you will have the chance to apply

Join Red River College (RRC) on Oct. 26, 2011 at the Western Canadian Aviation Museum for a discussion about the latest in vision-enabled robotic technology from an international expert in the field of robotics and machinery vision.
Michael Monnin, Products Manager, Robots & Vision, Wayne Trail Technologies, will provide a practical guide of the technology currently available to manufacturers interested in more intelligent robot solutions.
Machine vision technology continues to advance in capability while the complexity and cost of these systems drops. At the same time, robot systems and software platforms have become more open to integration and device communication. The marriage of machine vision and robotic technology has never been easier or more cost effective and continues to prove easier to implement with a growing library of successful applications.
Attendees will leave this seminar with practical knowledge of vision-enabled robot technology, a clear understanding of the current trends in robotic vision, and an insight into the future of intelligent robotics.
Following the seminar, attendees will be invited to tour RRC’s Centre for Aerospace Technology and Training (CATT).

Speaker Bio:
Michael has over 20 years experience in the robotics and machine vision industry as a control engineer, robot programmer, machine vision application engineer, machine vision system sales engineer, robot sales engineer, robot and vision systems sales engineer, and product manager for robot & vision.
He holds a B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University and is fluent in many robotics and machinery systems.
