Speaker:

Helene Fung
Senior Strategic Planning Manager, IEEE

Abstract:

Many books have been written about sponsorship hunting, PR, events promotion and marketing; but you don’t really need a book or a course to learn the basics. I learnt these skills through “on the job” experience while organising activities as a university student.

This is a particularly useful skill set to have for anyone on the committee of GOLD affinity groups, student branches, Women In Engineering affinity groups. Hopefully sharing some insights I gained along the way is enough to get you started!

Speaker Bio:

Helene Fung has worked in management consulting and business analysis for eight years, and just begun a new role as the IEEE’s Senior Strategic Planning Manager in June 2010.

She graduated from a double degree course in engineering (majoring in electrical and electronic engineering) and science (majoring in chemistry) at the University of Western Australia in 2002, obtaining first class honours in both bachelor degrees. She completed a post-graduate diploma in applied finance and investment with the Financial Services Institute of Australasia in 2005.

Helene has been an active IEEE volunteer since she re-activated her university’s student branch in 2000, and has since served on a number of committees, including IEEE Nominations and Appointments Committee, EAB Continuing Professional Education Committee, MGA GOLD Committee and Region 10 Executive Committee.
