Dababneh holds a Ph.D in Gender Studies from the University of Leicester in England. Her research focuses on women’s legal and political rights as human rights, International conventions on human rights and Arab Women’s Movements history and discourse.
Dababneh teaches a number of undergraduate and graduate courses in both the Women’s Studies Center and the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan. The courses she is teaching deals with democracy and human rights, Jordanian
constitutional Law, women and Law, women’s political participation.
Dababneh is a member in the Board of Trustees in the National Center for Human Rights, a member in the Jordanian Bar Association, the Legal Committee at the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW), the Jordanian Higher Counsel of
Youth, the Arab Women Legal Network, and is also a member in the Board of Trustees in the SIGI (Sisterhood Is Global Institute) in Jordan. Moreover, Dababneh is a founding member of many NGOs in Jordan such as the Women Helping Women Network, Association of Jordanian Women Academics, and the Family Counseling and Training Association.
She has worked as consultant for the UN Women, GIZ and many other international organizations in a number of projects dealing with gender. She has participated in a number of conferences and workshops pertaining to Arab Women empowerment and mainstreaming.
Dababneh is a frequent speaker in national and international conferences with a focus in the areas related to Arab women. She also delivers trainings, raising awareness seminars on Human rights and women’s legal rights, both nationally and internationally.
She has a master’s degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Heidelberg. Her study also focused on a transgenic study of some melanoma genes and was published in three research papers in collaboration with her direct supervisor on the research, She has a Bachelor of science in life sciences and worked as medical analysis at MedLabs.
Currently, She is a researcher at the German Cancer Center, one of the world’s leading cancer research centers, and she runs two important projects that have a significant impact on the improvement of cancer treatment and diagnosis; The first is related to the early diagnosis of lung cancer and the other studies the most important genetic interactions leading to the spread of cancer of the pancreas to the liver.
She is a Peer reviewer in several Epigenetics research journals, She has seven published papers and a dissertation in a book under publication, as well as her doctoral research. She is also a member of the German Cancer Center Forum and of the European Cancer Research Organization.
Mrs. Abdelkhaleq was voted as one of the Most 10 Powerful Women in Jordan.

Mary has been a political activist for Palestinian rights for over 20 years and founded the Palestine Legal
Aid Fund which seeks to support legal action in support of Palestinian rights.
She serves on several Boards including INJAZ, Al Shabaka the Palestinian Policy Network and the Royal
Film Commission of Jordan. She is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the
International Women’s Forum (IWF).
She is a partner and brand ambassador for the Social Enterprise Project (SEP) in the Gaza/Jerash refugee
Mary completed a BA in political science from Columbia University, and law degrees from SOAS,
University of London, the College of Law London and the Inns of Court School of Law London.
