Remote Conferencing and Screencasting

IEEE MGA volunteers are seeking to expand the local technical meeting to a worldwide audience and to create a searchable recording meeting repository. We recommend WebEx to run and record web conferences.

We encourage you to record your technical meetings and upload them to IEEE TV channel dedicated to volunteer recording of technical meetings. Prior to creating your video please review best practices compiled by the IEEE TV production team and have speakers sign and date a release form. Following those practices will ensure that your video is of high quality and can be included on IEEE TV.

The tools we offer:


WebEx is a web conferencing tool designed for real time online meetings, webinars, training, demos, and presentations.It allows you to communicate with meeting participants using audio and video, share your computer desktop and presentations with them, make recordings of your web conferences, and more. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile platforms.

WebEx works well for online meeting with small to large number of participants (*) when recording option and audio via Internet and/or phone are desired.

To be cost effective and efficient, IEEE MGA offers WebEx service to Geographic Sections in two different ways. Sections that have a need for up to 3-5 online meetings a year, can request a WebEx meeting to be setup for them. IEEE MGA staff will process the request and provide WebEx session information within 3 days.

WebEx Recorder/Player

WebEx Recorder is a simple standalone recorder of screen activity and audio for Windows based computers. It can be used to make an offline recording of a presentation, demo, tutorial, etc. Recording can be played using WebEx Player.

Google Hangouts Meet

Google Meet is a video conferencing app. It is the business-oriented version of Google’s Hangouts platform and is suitable for GROUPS of all sizes. … Google Meet integrates with G Suite versions of Google Calendar and Gmail and shows the complete list of participants and scheduled meetings.

Google Hangouts Classic (good for small meeting, no recording option)

Google Hangouts brings online conversations to a new level with free group video calls, screen sharing, and social elements such as emoji.

Google Hangouts works well for online meetings with a small number of participants 10-15 using (GoogleApps@IEEE account) when no recording needed and audio via Internet is acceptable.
