About IEEE

IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E,” stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The association is chartered under this name and it is the full legal name. To learn more about the association’s name, for more information please read the History of IEEE.

About IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Thailand Chapter
As there are increasing numbers of researchers working on computational intelligence area in Thailand, therefore, Dr. Kitsuchart Pasupa and Dr. Kuntpong Woraratpanya initiated of the setting up the IEEE CIS Thailand Section by gathering 13 signatures from IEEE members at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology (i.e. KMITL, KMUTT, and KMUTNB). The petition was forwarded to IEEE Head office for approval in August 2015 with Dr. Chanboon Sathitwiriyawong serving as an acting chair. IEEE approved the petition on 23rd December 2015.

The chapter is for a group of people who share a common interest which is able to be extended to collaborative researches and held activities together (i.e. conferences, seminar, competition). This could be either in academia and industry. The chapter also wants to provide a focus for contact with others within Thailand who has related interests.
