Abstract of the key note lecturer:
The grids are facing more and more challenges with meeting society expectations for grid capacity and flexibility services. At the same time the network companies are making significant investments in their grids to ensure quality of supply and support growth. Longer lead times for building networks are one reason for the challenge, however there is also a need to deploy a wider set of tools to ensure a reliable and efficient service supply. This presentation looks into the capacity and flexibility challenges for the network company, gives an overview of the possible solutions as well as a deeper look into a few case studies of solutions being implemented at Vattenfall Distribution Sweden.
Biography of the presenter:
Peter Söderström has worked with business development in the energy business since end of last century. Earlier in the areas of energy efficiency, nuclear and the oil industry and later with focus on the development of the future electrical system and especially the network operators role. He is currently with Vattenfall Distribution Sweden, a large north European utility where he is responsible for asset development, strategy and long-term investment planning. He is also chairman in the Swedish development program for Smart Grids at Energiforsk (Swedish utility trade organization), the Swedish CIRED national committee and CIRED Session 6 covering regulation and DSO business environment.
