Celebrating IEEE PES Day

The Rise of IEEE PES Day

In April 22, 2008, an announcement was made by our past 2018 IEEE PES President Wanda Reder at the 2008 IEEE PES Transmission and Distribution Conference in Chicago , Illinois, that the Power Engineering Society is to be renamed as Power and Energy Society after a final vote from the PES membership. Such initiation was to promote broaden horizons with renewed determinations to serve not just the present scope of interests but also the future involvements of PES members in the electric energy field. With its name, The Power & Energy Society, it brings better appreciation to all participants in the industry or academia with PES history and “5” PES pillars of the “More Power to the Future” vision:

  • Advancing global participation;
  • Educating the Future Workforce;
  • Industry Activity Trends;
  • Standards Leadership;
  • Participating in Regulatory Initiatives.
