IEEE Singapore Computer Society presents you a technical event co-organized by IEEE Singapore Computer Society and Nanyang Polytechnic.


Executive Summary & Outline:

Artificial Intelligence regained the throne of buzz words after 3 decades. Through a series of recent public events, such as Alpha-Go, the communities have various ideas, perceptions and sentiments towards the technology and what change it might entail. In this talk, we will study some recent successes of applying AI in the areas of medical, hospitality, software engineering and public utility. We then conjecture some possibilities and impossibilities of AI application in the near future.


Speaker Profile:

Dr Kenny Lu is a Senior Lecturer and Specialist (AI & Analytics) at Nanyang Polytechnic. He teaches various modules in the topics of Parallel Programming, Hadoop and Spark, Functional Programming, Object-oriented Programming, and Data Visualisation.

Kenny received his Ph.D in School of Computing National University of Singapore. He is the principal investigator of several R&D projects in the domains of formal languages, type theory and programming techniques used in data analytics, data security, data governance, software security and software quality assurance. Kenny’s works have been published in various local and international conferences and journals. Kenny is an active contributor to several international conferences as a program committee member as well as a reviewer.

Prior to Nanyang Polytechnic, Kenny was leading a software development team in Circos Brand Karma. The team was providing social media analytics solutions to the Hospitality Industry. Kenny was also the co-founder of the Singapore Functional Programmer special interest group.
