SCCESS
SC Council of Engineering and Surveying Societies
On Friday, September 09, 2016, Adam B. Jones of the South Carolina Council of Engineering and Surveying Societies (SCCESS) writes in response to the many questions posed by IEEE SC Council Chair, Jacquelyn D. N. Cunningham. Jacquelyn has served as Chair for 20 months and continues to explore IEEE’s long history in South Carolina and in the Central Savannah River area of Georgia. See the History of the IEEE SC Council.
“IEEE does hold three seats on the SCCESS” states Adam. This involvement requires the IEEE SC Council to be active in SCCESS and to pay annual dues to the SCCESS Treasurer in the amount of $200 per year.
Adam writes: “The roles/responsibilities for the seat are to attend meetings and participate in the screening process for seating members of the SC Board of Registration for Engineers and Surveyors.” In the coming weeks, the SCCESS will meet on October 25, 2016, where IEEE SC Council will join SCCESS to “screen for two seats.” Adam shares that while the “current members are seeking reappointment, [SCCESS is] advertising the seats currently” and the attached ad is available for distribution to members.
The Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How regarding the SC Board of Registration for Engineers and Surveyors and SCCESS can be found on its webite; however, SCCESS “meets when needed. SCCESS generally hosts the Registration Board for a dinner annually, and the dues go to pay for this dinner.” This dinner will be one of topics for discussion at the upcoming October meeting.
