About

The IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (IEMDC) has been established to be one of the major events in the field of electrical machines and drives. Started in Milwaukee, Wi in 1997, IEMDC is now a regular established conference. Recent editions have been organized in Seattle, Wa in 1999, Cambridge, Ma in 2001, Madison, Wi in 2003, San Antonio, Tx in 2005, Antalya, Turkey in 2007, Miami, Fl in 2009, Niagara Falls, Ont., Canada in 2011 and Chicago, Il in 2013.

Tutorials

IEMDC 2015 aims to offer an extensive tutorial program on a wide range of topics from the fields of electric machines and drives.  The tutorials target engineers with long-term experience as well as faculty and newcomers who may both learn about and obtain a comprehensive high-level introduction into certain topics. The tutorials are expected to last 4 hours and will take place either in the morning or in the afternoon of May 10, 2015.

The following tutorials will be presented:

Title|Presenter(s)

Thermal Analysis of Electric Motors with Complex Duty Cycles|Dr. David Staton

Means to improve electric-motor-driven system life-cycle costs with a variable-speed drive|Dr. Tero Ahonen and Prof. Jero Ahola

Design and development of low speed 10MW+ superconducting Wind Turbine generators|Dr. Nenad Mijatovic and Prof. Bogi Bech Jensen

Design and Analysis of Permanent Magnet Machines including High-Speed Operation|Prof. Bulent Sarlioglu and Prof. Thomas Wu
