Masterclass OU – A series of Webinars by experts of the respective fields

The IEEE OUCE Computer Society in collaboration with SAE India Collegiate Club OU has organized “Masterclass OU – a series of Webinars by experts of the respective fields”, conducted on 5th and 6th of December 2020. As part of the lecture series, the first lecture was organized on “Placements: IN and OUT” on 5th December 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the Second lecture was organized on “INSIGHTS: Code your way to your Dream Company!” on 6th December 2020 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Lecture – 1:

Topic: Placements: IN and OUT

The speaker of this session was Mr.Murali Dasari, General Manager in Cummins India Ltd. The session started with the warm welcome of the faculty advisor of SAE Club OU Dr.V Uma Maheshwar who has been a constant support to the club. Later the speaker was introduced and was welcomed wholeheartedly. Immediately after the speaker took the charge of the webinar and shared his immense knowledge about the Automobile Industry and its dynamics. The respected speaker started the webinar by giving a glimpse of the present state of the Automobile Industry and the vastness and importance of the Automobile Industry in GDP as well as production. He later addressed the impact of the present Automobile Industry i.e jobs lost, seizure of dealership agreements, production cuts by OEMs, and also the reason for these adverse situations. Speaker made a point that though due to COVID 19 many sectors experienced a downfall and difficulty in functioning, this trend is been observed for the past 2 years. But there I’d been quite an increase in sales of 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler vehicles and a decrease in the sales of commercial vehicles. So to service in this sector one has to gear up themselves with the knowledge of emerging technologies like Hybrid Vehicles, Fuel cells, Electric Vehicles, etc. He also advised looking for opportunities in other sectors like DRDO, ISRO, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industries, Process Industries, etc. As an experienced person in core-Mechanical Engineering, Mr.Murali Dasari responds to the question of whether to go for a job or higher education after BE as to take up a job, gain some experience and then go for higher education and wisely choose the specialization course from the experience gained. Sir from his experience of recruiting for the jobs advised to present oneself in the resume, he told to use one’s comfort level of English and state all of their true strengths and academic achievements. The speaker personally advised us not to give up any opportunity that comes to us and choose the opportunity that is carrier driven. The knowledge packed webinar ended on an inspiring note that we should work hard towards our dream and do our best in our profession. This knowledge was imparted to about 80 young aspiring students which helped them in some or the other way to make better carrier decisions.

Lecture – 2:

Topic: INSIGHTS: Code your way to your Dream Company!

The speaker for this event was Mr. Sanjay Kumar Anumandla, who is an alumnus of the University College of Engineering (A), Osmania University. The event was held on Google meet and was attended by over 70 Undergraduate scholars. The session was graced by Prof. Sudha, Head Of the Department, Computer Science and Engineering Department, University College of Engineering (A), Osmania University, and also Ms. Shravya, Chair of IEEE OUCE Computer Society. Mr. Dheeraj representing the IEEE SB OUCE has given a brief introduction about the event followed by Prof. Sudha’s briefing on the initiative of the event. The event was preceded by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, the speaker for the day. He has shared his successful career journey to Amazon. He then added his perspectives on the current situation of the placement opportunities and a few tips and tricks to shine in the corporate world.  He then shared the strategies that helped him crack Amazon. After that, he has touched upon Computer Science and he answered several questions that were put forward by the attendees.  He has suggested a few books which students might find helpful while preparing. The session has lasted over an hour and ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. Sohanlal Choudhary, Chair, IEEE OUCE Student Branch.
