“IoT using RasPi” workshop in collab with Techvanto Pvt. Ltd.

A two-day workshop on IoT using Raspberry Pi was conducted by IEEE OUCE Student Branch and Techsonance 2020 in collaboration with Techvanto Pvt. Ltd. on 22nd and 23rd of February, 2020 in the E-classroom of Electrical Engineering Department, University College of Engineering (A), Osmania University.

It observed a turnout of around 43 as required and expected. Students from various colleges in Hyderabad had registered and attended this event. The workshop started at sharp 10.00 a.m. on the first day.

The speaker started the morning session by indulging the students with casual conversation to have a better interaction. A few minutes into it, he slipped to the basics of IoT explaining how it is different from embedded systems, how it is being used in the present-day world with few examples and what are the applications of it.  In the afternoon session, he covered basics of python programming, dealing with data types and all.

On the second day, the session started with introduction of raspberry pi, explaining how it is different from Arduino and its applications. Raspberry Pi kits along with required components were provided to the students. First they started with blinking of LED lights using the microcontroller. The speaker explained about the program, then about all the connections to Raspberry pi for the students to work on it. They also worked with IR sensors and relays in the same manner.

In the end, an exam was conducted to the students by the company, of whom 10 students are selected for an internship program organized by the same company. Then the issue of certification of appreciations for the students who did a good job in the workshop selected by the resource person himself occurred. Then as a token of gratitude IEEE OUCE SB presented the speaker with a memento. Later the certification of participation were issued to every participant. Students were asked to provide the feedback regarding the workshop.
