RAS Phase-1 Session-1 “Introduction to Robotics”

The first session of the OUCE Robotics Club was conducted on 10th January, 2020 and was hosted by the IEEE OUCE SB members and the new core committee for the RAS Student Chapter. After conducting registrations initially, this was an open season in order to give information to more people about the club and various activities.  The chief speaker was Mr. E. Madhusudan Sir, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, OUCE, who is also our faculty advisor.

The session threw light on various topics including the list of events and sessions conducted by the club last year,  the aim of the club this year,  an interactive lecture about the meaning of Robotics, its origin, the advancement it has gone through over the years and what challenges it faces in today’s world. Examples of various robots from different generations were also given, showing how the field has evolved along with a display of various components pertaining to what students will learn including various sensors, parts of a 4 wheeled rover, various modules, Arduino etc.  A video displaying the latest robots and the reach of robotics was shown. Projects from last year’s club members were explained and few of last year’s winners shared their personal experiences.

At the end, questions were asked to the students relating to the basic knowledge they possessed about robotics, what they expected from the club, ideas they have in mind etc.
