On Friday 13th September 2019, the very first event of IEEE OUCE EMBS Student Branch Chapter, took place which was a joint effort of the IEEE OUCE EMBS Student Branch Chapter and the Department of Bio Medical Engineering, Osmania University in the Seminar Hall of BME Department from 1.45 pm till 4.15 pm organised and hosted by IEEE OUCE EMBS Student Branch Chapter.
Expert talks on DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY and ROLE OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING IN HEALTHCARE AND HOSPITALS were conducted by Dr. C. Sashidhar; Nephrologist in Hyderabad and Dr. G.V.R.K Acharyulu; Professor and coordinator for MBA (Healthcare & Hospital Management) Hyderabad Central University, respectively.
The first lecture helped in creating health awareness and explained about new IoT devices that are being manufactured and significance of Bio Medical engineers in this field. The second lecture mainly discussed about the importance and enunciating several fields in which Bio Medical Engineers are required in industries and hospitals. The lectures gave a comprehensive overview about health awareness and in the field in healthcare industry.
Speakers Profile:
- C. Sashidhar completed his MBBS from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal (2000), MD -General Medicine from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore (2004) and Senior Redidant in Nephrology from Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad (2006). He is a member of Medical Council of India (MCI). Some of the services provided by the doctor are: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) treatment, Ureteroscopy (URS), Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, Kidney Stone Treatment, Hemodiafiltration (HDF) only to mention a few.
- G.V.R.K Acharyulu did his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University, Masters from NIT-Warangal. He holds his MBA degree (Marketing &Finance) and Ph.D in Supply Chain Management from Osmania University. He has published 19 research papers in National and 21 in International Journals in the area of Operations, Supply Chain and Healthcare Management. He has published about 10 books about Research Methodology, Statistical Tools, Marketing Research, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Healthcare and Hospital Management, Pharmacy Administration amongst others. He was given the title of ICFAI Best Teacher Award in 2017 at the 29th AIMS Annual Management Education Convention.
