LECTURE ON EARTHING AND EARTH FAULT PROTECTION

A technical lecture on EARTHING AND EARTH FAULT PROTECTION was conducted on 22nd march 2018 .The lecture was taken up by Mr.C.Satish, Life SMIEEE. The lecture gave a comprehensive overview of earthing and earth fault protection for the safety of life and property. It explained the purpose of earthing, types of earthing like system earthing, equipment earthing, substation earthing, earthing for sensitive electronic systems and earthing for protection against lightning and switching overvoltages..
The factors to be considered and the design of earthing components and system are dealt with. In the second half of the lecture, the principles and methods of earth fault detection and protection are explained. Step voltages, transfer potentials, ground loops are briefly covered.

Speaker Profile:
C.Satish received the B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University (1965), and the M.Tech in Industrial Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (1977). He is a Life Senior Member of IEEE. Mr. Satish’s retirement as Manager (Electrical) in 2002 follows 30 years service in Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited and 6 years in AP State Electricity Board.
