About IEEE Student Branch NIU
The NIU IEEE student branch is a professional association club which attempts to promote both the IEEE as an organization, as well as all of the technical fields that fall under the IEEE umbrella. Whether you’re a student of electrical engineering, computer programming, or are a student of a major that isn’t even technical, we welcome all who are interested in learning more about the work that we do.
The student branch hosts events throughout the semester that will be posted on our website, as well as mailed out to those on our mailing list. These events have included things like technical skill workshops, guest speakers, and more. Examples of past events have included a soldering tutorial, guest speakers from the Byron Nuclear Generation Station, monthly meetings to the Rockford IEEE section meetings, and more.
We hope that our organization can help further advance your knowledge in your field, and if you come from a different background, we hope that the NIU IEEE student branch can help give you an idea of what electrical engineering is all about.
